Sip Sustainably: How Our Reusable Cups Are Making a Difference
At Cancer Relief Gibraltar, we’re committed to making a positive impact—not only for the people we support but also for the environment we all share. That’s why we’ve started collaborating with large community events to provide reusable cups. It’s a practical, eco-friendly solution that helps reduce waste and gives people an easy way to make a difference—one drink at a time.
The Impact So Far
Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve already seen fantastic results. Across just five events, 5,114 cups were returned for reuse. If each one replaced a single-use plastic cup, that’s the equivalent of preventing 61.4 kilograms of plastic waste from reaching landfill.
To put that into perspective, that’s more than the weight of two large suitcases or a full-size washing machine worth of plastic that didn’t need to exist. And that’s just from five events!
Why Reusable?
Single-use plastic cups are typically used for just a few minutes before being thrown away. Too often, they end up in landfill, our oceans, or as litter—taking centuries to break down. By switching to reusable alternatives, we can reduce waste, cut pollution, protect sea life, and promote more responsible event practices in Gibraltar.

Our reusable cups aren’t just good for the environment—they also help us continue to provide vital support to those affected by cancer. Every cup deposit goes back into the charity, helping fund essential services like nursing care, counselling, and complementary therapies.
