We recently welcomed the Med Steps 5 Organisers to the Cancer Relief Centre to celebrate the success of this year’s fundraising and, more importantly, to share the impact their efforts will have on the people and families we care for every day.
We are incredibly proud to announce that the 2026 Med Steps 5 Challenge, together with the inaugural Beyond the Rock walk from Castellar to Gibraltar, raised an amazing £38,000+ for Cancer Relief Gibraltar. It is a record-breaking total and the largest amount ever raised through these events in a single year.

Celebrating the Impact
Standing together at the Centre, it was a chance not only to present the final cheque, but to reflect on what that figure really means. Behind every pound raised are real people who will benefit from the care these events make possible, and the Med Steps Challenge continues to raise the funds we need to continue providing services to anyone in Gibraltar affected by cancer.
This incredible achievement could not happen without the ongoing commitment of Mark Cooper and the Med Steps 5 organising team. Year after year, Mark, alongside the HM Government of Gibraltar Prison Officers and many dedicated volunteers, donate their time to planning and delivering these events. Their commitment has created something that has become much more than fundraising, bringing the community together for a challenge and tradition people look forward to every May.
A Year of New Challenges
This year also introduced the Beyond the Rock walk from Castellar to Gibraltar, adding a new adventure to the fundraising calendar and welcoming even more people to get involved. Alongside the ever-popular Med Steps 5 Challenge, it helped make 2026 the most successful year in the event’s history.
Another thank you goes to everyone who fundraised and took part. From corporate raffles, to quiz nights, to the volume of Just Giving pages, the support for these events was unmatched. We are inspired by everyone who walked, climbed the steps, and donated their time and effort to again support Cancer Relief.

Looking Ahead
Hosting the organisers at the Centre was a reminder that fundraising doesn’t end at the finish line. It allowed us to reflect on the magnitude of what has been achieved, and also look ahead to coming years of milestones and support.
