On Saturday, May 10th, Gibraltar came together for one of our most uplifting events—the Med Steps 5 Challenge. Each year, this day reminds us of the strength, unity, and spirit that defines our community, and 2025 was no exception.
From the moment the first participants arrived at the base of the Mediterranean Steps, there was an undeniable energy in the air. Whether tackling one lap or pushing themselves to complete all five, participants brought not just their physical strength, but their hearts and stories with them. We saw individuals walking for loved ones, groups supporting each other with every step, and countless moments of kindness and encouragement exchanged on the trail.
The Med Steps is a challenge in every sense. The famous steps, steep descents, and the repetition of each lap—it tests even the most prepared participants. And yet, time and again, we were amazed by the determination of those of all ages who kept going, smiling, supporting one another, and embracing the challenge with open hearts. The spirit of resilience on display was truly moving.
As a team, we at Cancer Relief Gibraltar are truly filled with gratitude and admiration. Seeing so many people step up in every sense and show support for those navigating cancer in our community was deeply humbling. It’s events like this that make our mission possible, and more importantly, remind us why we do what we do.

To all who participated, volunteered, or came out to cheer—thank you. Your energy, your effort, and your presence made this event what it was: a celebration of hope, strength, and community. We know how much heart went into every step and every lap. You have our admiration and sincere thanks.

A huge thank you also goes to the volunteers, organisers, and supporters who worked behind the scenes to ensure the day ran smoothly. From registration to entertainment, to our safety teams, your hard work helped create a welcoming, safe, and positive experience for all.
Also, we can not express enough gratitude to the people that drive this event to benefit Cancer Relief. We are incredibly grateful to the HM Government of Gibraltar Prison Officers for the hard work in organising this event. We are so fortunate to have the support and dedication from this group in making the Med Steps Challenge a reality year after year.
The Med Steps 5 Challenge is far more than a fundraiser—it’s a symbol of solidarity and compassion. It’s about coming together to support one another, to honour those we love, and to remind each other that no one faces cancer alone.

We’re honoured to share this journey with all of you and already look forward to next year. Until then, thank you for stepping up, showing up, and making every step count!
