On the 4th of March, Cancer Relief Gibraltar hosted their annual Pancake Day celebration, bringing the community together for a day filled with delicious treats and a spirit of unity. Held at the Calpe Rowing Club, which once again generously sponsored and hosted the event, the day was a joyful success, raising an incredible £7,438.84 in support of those affected by cancer in Gibraltar.

The day was split into two sessions to allow us to welcome families after school, and guests enjoyed pancakes with a variety of toppings, ranging from the healthier bananas and strawberries to the deliciously naughty chocolate spread and jam. The event was further uplifted by a well-supported raffle, with generous prizes kindly donated by Hotel Chocolat Gibraltar, Star Beautique Group, and Wagamama Gibraltar.

The afternoon session brought even more energy thanks to a lively Zumba Kids class delivered by Puro Fuego Fitness, which proved to be a huge hit with children and families alike.

More than just a tasty celebration, Pancake Day served as a reminder of the strength and generosity of our local community. Our fantastic participating restaurants also joined in the fun by serving pancakes at their own venues throughout the day.

A heartfelt thank you to: Jury’s Café & Wine Bar, Lord Nelson Bar Brasserie, Star Bar, FresKa E1 Gibraltar, Moniques Bistro & Cafe, The Muscle Bakery, My Wines Gibraltar Ltd, and The Queen’s Picturehouse & Eatery.

We are also deeply grateful to Netgear Ltd for their remarkable £1,000 donation, which helped boost the day’s fundraising total and contributed directly to the vital services Cancer Relief provides.

As Fundraising Manager Rowena Wallace shared, “It’s always so inspiring to see how our community comes together, and Pancake Day was no exception. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took part — the warmth, kindness and generosity shown on the day truly make a meaningful difference.”

Whether it was enjoying a pancake, dancing with the kids, supporting the raffle, or simply being part of it all, the event created a genuine sense of togetherness — one that reflects the very best of Gibraltar’s community spirit.
